Disney's Big Hero Six Leads The Weekend in a Box Office Grand Slam

It's never rare to have a weekend at any time of the year when two highly anticipated films are vying for the coveted position. Disney's animated "Big Hero 6" got there, leading the weekend with record breaking numbers.

When box-office receipts were tallied, Big Hero 6 snagged $56.2 million in its opening three days, handily edging out Interstellar’s $47.5 million gross for a surprise upset.

In true Disney "Magic", Big Hero 6 tells the heart warming story of a special bond between a plus-sized robot naned Baymax,  and prodigy Hiro Hamada,  who team up with a group of friends to create this awesome band of high-tech heroes.

About The Film:

Parents need to know that Big Hero 6 is an action-packed animated adaptation of the same-titled superhero comic that's likely to attract younger kids as well as tweens/teens who are already fans of the Marvel universe.

The film is focuses on the power of brotherhood, friendship, and using your gifts to help others. One of the film's main themes is about coping with grief, as the main character's beloved older brother (his only immediate family) tragically dies early in the film; Hiro's sadness may be hard for sensitive kids.

Once wd get past the first heart wrenching loss, we're quickly faced with yet another near death. It is extremely upsetting, and there are sometimes-intense confrontations between the movie's scary supervillain and the protagonists that injure but doesn't necessarily kill people.

On the other hand, the central robot, Baymax, was designed to heal not hurt, and his moral code influences other characters in positive ways. With its refreshingly diverse cast and uplifting message, Big Hero 6 is a captivating adventure story for the entire family.
