Haute NYC Halloween Happenings for the Kiddies....





FREE Bamboo!
Mon 31 4–7pm. Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Ave between Ashland Pl and St. Felix St, Fort Greene, Brooklynbam.org).
This annual outdoor bash is one of Brooklyn’s hippest Halloween hangs. Costumed cuties can play carnival games, take in street performances, enter a costume contest and more. All ages.

Halloween Celebration at AMNH

Mon 31 4–7pm. American Museum of Natural History. Central Park West at 79th St, amnh.org) Subway: B, C to 81st St–Museum of Natural History; 1 to 79th St. $10. 
As if the usual dinosaur skeletons and other bones weren’t haunting enough, more than 30 of the museum’s halls will sport chilling decor for this holiday event. Kids can trick-or-treat, mingle with cartoon characters, and make arts and crafts. Past perfomers at the yearly event include David Grover and the Big Bear Band, the Big Apple Circus and pro pumpkin carver Hugh McMahon. All ages.

FREE 39th Annual Village Halloween Parade 
 Mon 31 7–10:30pm. Sixth Ave from Spring St to 21st St (halloween-nyc.com). 
With a theme this year of “the I of the beholder,” the city’s largest Halloween blowout focuses on what we see and how we see it. A spooky cloud of floating eyes will lead the parade up Sixth Avenue, and eyeball images sent in by spectators will be projected onto the “Great Eyeball” high above the parade. Make sure your tots are comfortable with crowds before setting out: Typical attendance tops 2 million revelers. The parade runs up Sixth Avenue from Spring Street to 15th Street. All ages.

Gravesend Inn

Brave this creepy hotel designed, constructed and operated by City Tech's Theatreworks troupe. The high-tech haunt will thrill the toughest of tweens with jumping skeletons, pirate ghosts and more. Ages 6 and up.

Tribeca Costume Collection
Mon 31 3:30–6:30pm. Lance Lapin Salon, 123 West Broadway at Duane St , briandorseystudios.com). Subway: J, Z to Broad St; 2, 3 to Wall St. $10 suggested donation. 
If you're planning on doing some trick-or-treating in Tribeca this Halloween, be sure to head down West Broadway, where photographer Brian Dorsey will snap shots of your kid dressed to the nines in their festive gear. Photos will be available online to parents at no charge, though Dorsey will donate all proceeds from the afternoon to UNICEF. Dorsey, who was named one of American Photo magazine's "Top 10 Wedding Photographers in the World." All ages.

Hi-Art Halloween Spectacular

Mon 31 3:30–5pm. Hi-Art, 227 W 29th St, Studio 4R between 7th and 8th Aves , hiartkids.com). $55 per child. 
Before the trick or treating begins, stop by Hi-Art for some candy crafts. Using their favorite sweets, kids will make amazing masterpieces, from pictures and paintings to monsters and magical worlds. Their creations will look good enough to eat! All ages.

FREE El Dia de los Muertos
Mon 31 at 6pm. Queens Library, Jackson Heights Branch, 35-51 81st St between 35th and 37th Aves, Queens  , queenslibrary.org). Subway: 7 to 82nd St–Jackson Hts.
Celebrate El Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, with the Queens Library. With the help of Margarita Larios, kids can create altars, a Day of the Dead tradition that honors deceased loved ones. This event is first-come, first-serve so be sure to get there early! All ages.

Steampunk Haunted House
Mon 30. Times vary. Abrons Arts Center 466 Grand St at Pitt St  , henrystreet.org). Subway: F to Delancey St; J, Z, M to Delancey–Essex Sts. $20–$25. 
Grab your kids by the hand and wind your way through a maze of steam-powered cyborgs and churning gears, the creation of the Third Rail Projects' performance and installation artists. This year's theme is "through the looking glass". Check website for specific times. Children under 8 will not be admitted. Ages 8 and up.

Queens County Farm Museum Haunted House 
Mon 31, Sun 30 4–7pm. Queens County Farm Museum, 73-50 Little Neck Pkwy between 73rd Rd and 74th Ave, Floral Park, Queens , queensfarm.org). $4. 
Kids should keep an eye out for ghosts at this 17th-century site; while they look, they can sip on cider, navigate a corn maze and pick farm-grown pumpkins. Ages 4 to 12.
